It is a six week programme designed for Year 5 children and is delivered by staff at football club community trusts across the UK.
At the heart of the project is a dual approach to education:
1) promoting balanced diets in line with government recommendations
2) enabling children to get active.
For 45 minutes each week, students learn about different topics – including diet and nutrition, exercise, the human body and hydration – through a series of interactive fun exercises. They then spend 45 minutes participating in a sporting activity session, which covers football, handball and dodgeball over the six week course.
Schools receive visits from the clubs first team football players and the club mascots, and also have the opportunity to participate in a penalty shoot out at half time on a match day.
Inspiring children to adopt more active lifestyles is at the heart of the programme, and the partnership with football clubs goes a long way in doing this.
The sole aim of the +Sport Move and Learn Project is to increase the levels of physical activity, promote nutritional education and build awareness of the importance of a healthy diet and active lifestyle amongst children. The Ferrero Group ensures that the Kinder brand is kept separate from the Kinder+Sport initiative and achieves this by adhering to strict guidelines around branding and prohibiting product promotion through all Kinder+Sport channels.
